Music

Your student can learn to play!
Starting in third grade, Jefferson Hunt Elementary students can learn to play an instrument. Our third grade students get their feet wet by learning how to play the Recorder. Our fourth and fifth grade student move on to more advanced instruments such as the violin, saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, flute, percussion, and many many other instruments to choose from.

Chorus

Does your student love to sing?
Then sign them up to be a part of Hunt Elementary's Chorus. Hunt's students learn the fundamentals of singing with our chorus instructor and learn how to be a performer. Occasionally our chorus will go on field trips to perform for around the community.

Creative After School Programs for Success (CAPS)

What is the Creative After School Programs for Success (CAPS)?
CAPS is an after school program that begins when school is released. The aim of the CAPS Program is to provide after school experiences that will enhance each student's academic, social, and emotional development.

What will my student do at CAPS?
After having a nutritious snack, students spend time doing homework before activity time. Some of the activities that students enjoy include playing sports, such as soccer, flag football, basketball, and softball. Other activities include scrapbooking, cooking, Dance, Kidbiz 3000, and tutoring for enrichment.

The Learning Center

The Learning Center is a program that provides students with the extra help that they need. Students visit the Learning Center during the school day to work in small groups or one on one sessions which helps develop their academic skills.

Special Day Classes (SDC)

Special Day Classes (SDC) are available for students with disabilities. Our SDC class is led by Mrs. Zolondek serving grades first, second and third. Ms. Tibbetts who will be servicing our fourth and fifth grade SDC class.

AVID Elememtary Components
We expect our scholars to meet the rigorous learning demands of Common Core instruction.  Therefore, we must provide them with the skills, tools, and resources to meet them.  Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Elementary strategies give our scholars assistance with responsibility, organization, note-taking, study skills and college and career preparedness.

Our 3rd - 5th  grade students are expected to come to school daily, prepared with their:

1.  Binder
2.  Agenda
3.  Subject Notebooks
5.  Pencils and Pens
6.  Highlighters for Critical Reading

Daily instruction will consist of students taking 2 and 3 column notes in order to use and study guides at school and at home.  Parents should review their child's binders nightly to see what they are learning at school, and to sign their agenda.
